Fire certification is an application to the local authority in relation to the buildings
ability to protect and provide safe egress from a building in the event of a fire.
This application requires in-depth fire engineering knowledge and close liaison
with the local authority’s fire officer.
Under the Disability Act 2005 and the Equality Act 2004 all building owners have
a duty to upgrade their buildings to Part M of the building control act by 2015.
This is not only for buildings where the public have access but for all staff and
future staff members. There will be an onus on building owners (and their managers)
to upgrade their buildings to Part M of the building regulations by 2015 to allow
access to all.
The first step in this process is to undertake an access audit of a building to
establish what is required to upgrade the building.
Omega Surveying Services can assist you with all of your needs
with regards to adapting your building to be disability compliant.
As a client it is your duty under the Safety Health and Welfare at Work (Construction)
Regulations 2006 to appoint a Project Supervisor for the Design Process (PSCP)
You must also ensure that the designer that you instruct is competent to undertake
the works.
Omega Surveying Services can both act as the PSDP and guide you
through all aspects of your duties.

is obtained. Our Sister Company

Certificate of Exemption from Planning.
Section 57 Declaration
If you own a protected structure it is important to know what you can and cannot
do to your property. Sometimes you might want to make a change to a protected structure,
e.g. replace the windows, repair the roof, etc. Surveying and More can apply to
the local council on your behalf to establish what works you are allowed to do.
If you make a change that is not allowed, you could be prosecuted in the courts.
Section 5 Declaration
If you own a protected structure and you intend to make a change to the building
you can ask the local council if the specific change you have in mind is or is not
allowed. This is called a Section 5 Declaration (from Section 5 of the Planning
and Development Act 2000). Surveying and More can assist you in producing a section
5 declaration outlining what you intend to do and how you intend to do it while
retaining the historical features of your building.
